Ride and Seek MTB Adventure Race

Challenges await you and your teammate around every jump and berm at Ride and Seek, the USNWC’s fifth annual mountain biking adventure race. Teams of two ride their way to various checkpoints throughout the 40+ mile trail system in the order of their choosing, aiming to complete as many as quickly as possible. The first team to complete all the required checkpoints will be crowned champion.

  • Pre-registration – Must register by February 28th, 2019
    • $55/team
  • Race day registration – if available
    • $65/team
  • Note: Recover Brands shirts are only guaranteed to teams who pre-register by February 22nd

Schedule:

Saturday, March 2nd

  • 8:00am – Race day registration and packet pick-up begins – Ridge Pavilion
  • 8:45am – Race day registration and packet pick-up ends
  • 8:50am – Mandatory pre-race meeting for all participants
  • 9:00am – Ride and Seek starts
  • 1:00pm – Ride and Seek ends (ALL teams must return to the Start line by this time)
  • Note: Teams that are not back by this time will be disqualified … plan accordingly

SCORING:

  • Teams will be ranked on the total number of points collected from successfully completing various checkpoints
  • Ties will be determined by the team which collects the points the fastest
  • All regular Checkpoints are worth 10 points
  • All Mystery Checkpoints are worth 15 points

COMPETITION RULES:

  • There is no set course. Teams must strategically complete as many checkpoints as possible as quickly as possible
  • Each team will be given one map prior to the start of the race
  • Teams will receive information about the mystery checkpoints throughout the course
  • All trails must be used in the direction of the design
  • Service roads and open space (around the whitewater channels, power line right-a-way, etc) may be used in either direction
  • Public roads can be used in their intended direction but will not be closed to vehicle traffic
  • All checkpoints must be arrived at via trails (i.e. no bushwacking)
  • All racers must wear a bicycle helmet throughout the entirety of the event

Awards will be given out to the top 3 teams in the following categories

  • Men’s Division
  • Women’s Division
  • Mixed Division

  • Whitewater Race Series Refund and Transfer Policy:
    • Race Registration is non-refundable
    • A 100% registration transfer must be requested 2 months (or more) in advance of race day via racedirector@usnwc.org
    • A 50% registration transfer must be requested 1 month (or more) in advance of race day via racedirector@usnwc.org
    • Registration transfers are only applicable to the same race the following year
  • All purchased Whitewater Race Series add-on gear must be collected during packet pick-up. Items will not be shipped.
    • If the purchased add-on items are unable to be picked up during packet pick-up, items will be held at OUTFITTERS for pick-up for one week from the date of the event (seven days).
    • It is the participant’s responsibility to email racedirector@usnwc.org to arrange pick-up.
    • After seven days, all unclaimed items will be donated.
  • Participants not present for awards may collect their award from OUTFITTERS within two months of the race date. Items not collected within this time frame will be donated.
    • Items cannot be shipped
    • Participants must email racedirector@usnwc.org to arrange award pick-up
    • Typical parking fees apply
  • All participants must sign the USNWC waiver before participating
  • Trails will be open to other runners, hikers and bikers
    • Headphones, iPods, MP3 players, etc are strongly discouraged for the safety of all participants
    • Remain attentive and courteous at all times
    • No pets allowed on the course
  • All participants must sign the USNWC waiver before participating
  • There will be no gear/bag check at the start/finish for this race
  • Event will proceed rain or shine unless conditions are deemed unsafe by the Race Director
  • All guests are required to pay a $6 parking fee at the USNWC unless guest has an annual parking pass. Annual parking passes are available through the USNWC for $50
  • The USNWC does not conduct trail rescues in the event of an emergency. Participants are encouraged to call 911 THEN notify event staff if an emergency is encountered
