WC-50 Ultra Trail Marathon

Put your physical and mental strength to the test with the WC-50 Ultra Trail Marathon at the USNWC, the premier endurance race in the greater Charlotte region. Spanning through the entire facility, this multi-lap course offers 50K and 50-mile options.

  • Race Day Schedule:
    • 4:00 a.m. – Race Day Registration and Packet Pickup Begins
    • 4:45 a.m. – Race Day Registration and Packet Pickup Ends
    • 5:00 a.m. – 50M Race Starts
    • 6:00 a.m. – 50K Race Starts
    • 7:33 a.m. – Projected Sunrise
    • 6:43 p.m. – Projected Sunset
    • 6:45 p.m. – Course Closes

Drop Bags, Aid Stations and Pacers

  • Drop bags will be allowed and accessible at the Start/Finish line and may be dropped off before the race Saturday morning.
  • Each Aid Station will have water, food and electrolyte drinks. Runners should plan accordingly if they have special dietary needs. Crew members will be allowed access to all aid stations via foot or bike only. We ask that all crew members stay within the marked areas and not interfere with racers.
  • Pacers will be allowed for the final lap of the 50-mile race. Pacers will need to identify themselves at the Start/Finish line following the start of the race and prior to departing with their runner.

Post Race: Be sure to stick around after the race for food, drinks, recovery and awards.

Awards:

  • 50 mi finishers will receive a WC-50 belt buckle
  • 50K finishers will receive a WC-50 medal

Additional Event Info:

  • All participants must have an operating headlamp at the start of the race and maintain possession of the headlamp until after sunrise
  • All participants must sign the USNWC waiver before participating
  • Participants must be present to accept awards. Awards will not be mailed
  • Race bib must be visible and worn on the front of shirt to receive an accurate time
  • Aid Stations will be located at the Start/Finish, Entrance/Exit of Goat Hill and Entrance/Exit of the Lake Loop
  • Locker rooms are located at the main USNWC River Center
  • Registration is non-refundable and non-transferable
  • Event will proceed rain or shine unless conditions are deemed unsafe by the Race Director
  • All guests are required to pay a $5 parking fee at the USNWC unless guest has an annual parking pass. Annual parking passes are available through the USNWC for $40
  • Headphones, iPods, MP3 players, etc are discouraged for the safety of all participants
  • Remain attentive and courteous at all times, trails will be open to other runners, hikers and bikers
  • No pets allowed on the course
  • The USNWC does not conduct trail rescues in the event of an emergency. Participants are encouraged to call 911 THEN notify event staff if an emergency is encountered

    What is the time limit for completing either the 50k or 50-miler?
    Will there be finishers awards?

      Hi Stephanie, our race is scheduled to start at 5 a.m. with the course closing at 6:45 p.m., which is based on the projected sunset time. There will be finishers awards for both distances.

      Hi Kelly, both the 50-mile and 50K will be lap-based races on our trail system. We hope to have the course map up soon.

    Will the course/trails be closed to bikes during the race?

      Hi KL, all of our trails are considered multi-use trails during our normal operating hours as well as during races. The courses will remain open during the WC-50 Ultra Trail Marathon.
