WC-50 Ultra Trail Marathon | U.S. National Whitewater Center

WC-50 Ultra Trail Marathon

The 3rd annual WC-50 is a multi-lap ultramarathon spanning throughout the USNWC trail system featuring both a 50k and 50-mile option. For the first time ultra-competitor or those hoping to sharpen their skills at a distance beyond the standard marathon, the 50k offers three 10.35 mile loops with approximately 3,000 feet of total elevation change.  The 50k course provides a mix of challenging single-track climbs and rolling lakeside trails, offering something for runners of all levels. For the more seasoned ultra-runner or those looking to challenge themselves on a world-class course, the 50 mile course focuses on increased elevation profile and increased technical difficulty. Flat trails have been replaced with hills where possible, resulting in four 12.5 mile loops with approximately 7,000 feet of total elevation change. The 50k race has a 12.75 hour cut-off, and the 50 mile race cuts off at just under 14 hours.

Questions / Comments

If we are having a pacer for the last lap of the 50M does the pacer need to be signed in by the start of the race or can they sign in later on in the day?

    • usnwcadmin October 8, 2015 at 12:54 pm

Hey Ryan, they can sign in later in the day.

  2. Zack September 23, 2015 at 6:07 am

The recommended hotels all seem to be several miles away.

Since the race starts so early, is there a place to stay that is walking distance, or maybe a shuttle?

I’m trying to find a way to save my wife from having to wake up at 4:00 am to drive me to the race.

    • usnwcadmin September 23, 2015 at 2:38 pm

Hey Zack, unfortunately there is not an accommodation that is within walking distance of the facility and we do not offer shuttle service. We apologize for this inconvenience and look forward to your visit.

Pacers allowed? All loops? 3rd and 4th loops? Let me know as I would love to show some friends the trails! Thanks Boys!

    • usnwcadmin September 21, 2015 at 12:24 pm

Hey Ripmaster, pacers are not allowed for the 50k and are allowed for the last loop of the 50 mile.
