SUP Stream Catawba River Race

SUP Stream is the perfect race for stand-up paddleboard beginners and enthusiasts alike who want to put their skills to the test on the Catawba River.  The SUP Stream race will have classes for Rental, 12’ and under, and unlimited length boards.  Families can race together and against each other in a 4-mile race.  Combined with the Tuck Fest Catawba SUP race, measure how much your paddling improved over the summer and compete against your own time.

Event Details:

  • Date – Saturday, September 23, 2017
  • Distance – 4-mile
  • Time – 9:00 a.m.


  • Pre-Registration – Must register by September 22
  • $35 – 4-mile Recreational Distance
  • Race-Day Registration – if available
    • $42 – 4-mile Recreational Distance
  • *Note: SUP Boards are not included in registration
  • *Note: race shirts/towels are only guaranteed to those who pre-register by Sept 18th
  • *Note: SUP rentals (including a paddle and PFD) are available at a reduced price of $10.
    • Rentals are first come first serve


Saturday, September 23

  • 8:00 a.m. – Race day registration and packet pick-up begins at Kayak Center
  • 8:45 a.m. – Race day registration and packet pick-up ends
  • 9:00 a.m. – SUP Stream begins at the Flatwater Dock
  • Time TBD – Awards ceremony
  • 11:30 a.m. – Course closes


Awards will be given to the top 3 Male/Female paddlers in the following categories

  • Up to 12’6″ boards
  • Up to 14′ boards
  • Unlimited length boards

  • Whitewater Race Series Refund and Transfer Policy:
    • Race Registration is non-refundable
    • A 100% registration transfer may be requested 2 months (or more) in advance of race day via
    • A 50% registration transfer may  be requested 1 month (or more) in advance of race day via
    • Registration transfers are only applicable to the same race the following year
  • All participants must sign the USNWC waiver before participating
  • Participants must be present to accept awards. Awards will not be mailed
  • Restrooms are located at the main USNWC River Center and the Pump House Biergarten
  • Locker rooms/showers are located at the main USNWC River Center
  • Event will proceed rain or shine unless conditions are deemed unsafe by the Race Director
  • All guests are required to pay a $5 parking fee at the USNWC unless guest has an annual parking pass. Annual parking passes are available through the USNWC for $40
  • The USNWC does not conduct rescues in the event of an emergency. Participants are encouraged to call 911 THEN notify event staff if an emergency is encountered.
