Trail System

Spend the day outside, get some fresh air and enjoy a walk, hike, bike or run in Charlotte’s most scenic woodland setting. The USNWC has over 20 miles of trails that extend along the Catawba River and around small ponds and lake vistas.

All ages and abilities are welcome on the trails. As always, leashed dogs are also welcome, but please don’t forget to clean up after your pets. The main trail head and trail information kiosk is located in the back of the USNWC parking lot.

The trails are shared by hikers, runners and mountain bikers and their difficulty levels are graded by color:

  • Green – beginner/easy, mostly flat trails
  • Blue - intermediate, slight elevation changes
  • Black – advanced, steep elevation changes

Trails may be inaccessible at times due to inclement weather, trail maintenance or scheduled events. Please remember to check the trail status prior to your visit or call us at 704.391.3900 ext. 1.
