Become a professional river guide at the largest artificial whitewater facility in the world! The US National Whitewater Center in Charlotte, NC is seeking full and part-time seasonal guides starting spring of 2010. No prior experience needed!
Course Information:
This is a 6-day intensive class that covers everything from hydrology to river rescue. From the classroom to the river, top-notch instructors will teach all of the necessary skills expected of a professional raft guide.
Upon completion of guide school, preferential consideration will be given to top graduates in order to complete USNWC’s qualifying check-out process. Upon qualification, a fun, physical, and customer interactive job awaits!

Starting Pay Rate of $9.43/hour
Guide School Tuition:
$175 includes 6-day guide school.
First Aid, AED and Adult CPR certifications are required for employment—classes are offered through USNWC at an additional $45 cost.
Raft Guide Job Requirements (Attending guide school does not guarantee a job at the USNWC):
You must be 18 years of age and a high school graduate by summer 2010
You must have completed all guide school requirements
You need to have current Adult CPR, AED and Basic First Aid Certifications
You need to have completed at least 3 ride-a-longs and have 2 successful qualifying runs with 2 different Trip Leaders.
You need to be available to work at least one weekend day, either Saturday or Sunday, every week.
All employment-related paperwork must be approved by our Human Resources department.
Your level of physical fitness and swimming capabilities must be appropriately developed to handle the safety-related responsibilities of this position.
